The Office of Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (OSGLI) is focused on building the Ultimate Customer Experience. The Claim Administrative Associate is responsible for the set up and input of claims into the Life Claims Management System (LCMS). This position sends the initial claim invitation on veteran's death claims where the beneficiary designation is clear and there are no issues with the life insurance coverage. The individual ensures that incoming mail, emails and faxes are attached to existing claims. In addition the role is responsible for researching and obtaining needed records to help process claims.
Essential Job Functions
Enter claims/documents received before 3:00 p.m. into LCMS on the same day
Gather documentation on First Notices of Death (FNOD) received for veterans to create the claim
Ability to identify documents applicable to the various claim types
Retrieve microfilm images when needed for claims
Scan/image documents when needed
Verify all scanned images each day
Obtain archived documents when needed
Assign claims to staff based on daily incoming volume
Send claim invitation letters to beneficiaries when appropriate
Recognize when documents require further review and obtain necessary assistance
Perform system testing as need
Perform other duties as assigned
Related business or equivalent military experience preferred
Experience with LCMS, Compass and CMWS is a plus
Familiarity with imaging processes
Working knowledge of Lotus Notes and Microsoft Excel
Partnership skills with an ability to excel in a team environment and be a team player, as well as ability to work well independently
Ability to prioritize work and excel in a fast-paced, metric driven environment
Ability to work from home as business needs may occasionally dictate

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
